Panel debate: Tackling worklessness in austerity

Much has been written about the association between social housing and worklessness, some of it even suggesting that housing providers are part of the problem, holding back successive generations of tenants.

In January 2011, Riverside North East hosted a panel discussion in Gateshead on the topic at a critical moment in the policy debate.

Worklessness Event Gateshead 19 January 2011Four leading players discussed the issues, chaired by Richard Moss, the BBC's North East and Cumbria Political Editor and presenter of The Politics Show. Panellists included Kate Welch of the Acumen Community Trust, Deborah Shackleton, Group Chief Executive of Riverside, and Katie Schmuecker of the Institute for Public Policy Research.
