Formed in 2003, the Riverside Tenants' and Residents' Federation
is the overarching group of tenants and residents with whom
Riverside consults. It ensures tenants are actively involved in
Riverside’s decision making and helps explain what tenants want
from services. It is a fully constituted group, with agreed
aims and objectives, Constitution and Code of Conduct.

Our committee members
The Federation Executive committee members are
selected by tenants groups in their local areas and represent the
more than 50,000 tenants and residents of Riverside across the
country. They elect four officers, the Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer
and Secretary of the Federation, who lead Federation business. The
Federation Executive also choose who they want to be the tenant
Board Member and Observer for The Riverside Group Board.
What do we do?
The Federation creates opportunities for the
views of tenants and residents to be expressed, providing a forum
for discussion and consideration. The Federation ensures that
Riverside considers the views of tenants and residents about its
services and the quality of service delivery.
The Federation works with Riverside to empower tenants and
residents and promote our work to wider tenant audiences. It
communicates with tenants and residents about tenants’ views on
Riverside and its activities and performance.

Business groups
The key work of the Federation is carried out by Business Groups which consider Federation
business issues, like training and scrutiny of Riverside’s
services. The Federation also has Issues groups, which focus
on topics that tenants say are important to them, like repairs and
green issues. It gives tenants and residents an opportunity
to get involved in setting out local concerns and know that they
can make a real difference to services across Riverside. Click here to view
the current structure of the groups.
Are you interested in joining?
If you are interested in joining the
Federation Executive Committee or a Business or Issues group,
please contact your local Federation representative or local office
who can provide you with more information.
What we can provide
Riverside Tenants’ and Residents’ Federation
has its own budget and expense policy. The policy takes into
account the costs volunteers may incur through being involved, and
provides tenants’ training chosen by tenants.
Riverside offers support, and provides a wide
range of other training opportunities for tenants who want to get
involved.
If tenants want to set up a local group they
can contact their local Federation representative who will be happy
to offer support. They can also assist with writing a Constitution,
Terms of Reference and a Code of Conduct for your group.
Local staff can also help.
Local tenants and residents groups can apply
for starter and annual grants through Riverside to help with
setting up a group, which can be used for hiring meeting rooms and,
purchasing stationery. Again, your local Federation
representative can support you through the application process.
Please contact your local Federation
representative through your local office for any further
information, or contact the Federation using the contact details
below.
