Riverside - which scooped the Corporate Social
Responsibility gong at last year’s Liverpool Daily Post Regional
Business Awards - has published its annual Corporate Social
Responsibility Report.

The report highlights the housing association’s key successes in
four key impact areas of community, environment, marketplace and
workplace including:
- Generating over £100,000 for external charities over the last
three years;
- Reducing business mileage over the last 12 months by 9%;
- Receiving a Sustainable Homes Index for Tomorrow (SHIFT)
Award;
- Improving the energy efficiency of our tenants’ homes, saving
them over £1.2m in fuel bills.
Riverside’s Chairman Paul Brant said: “The
report has been produced at a time when the government’s housing
strategy is shaping the landscape we are working in.
“This coupled with budget cuts and a fragile
economy, means that CSR takes on a whole new meaning. The people we
house and the communities they live in are being profoundly
affected by new policy approaches, such as welfare reform and
localism, and we need to make sure we can meet these challenges
head on.
“Over the last year we have made great
progress in improving the energy efficiency of our homes, the
promotion of financial inclusion, the delivery of employment and
training support, and our many diverse community and green space
initiatives.
“We’re also pleased that we have been able to
improve our results in the Best Companies survey, reflecting our
commitment to employee engagement.”
