Welcome to Circle!
“Reduce, Recycle and Reuse - It makes sense
all round”
LATEST: Circle News - a year of
success in 2011/12
- Environment
Last year, Circle intercepted 27,314 tons of waste that would
otherwise have been sent to landfill. Of this, 22,747 tons were
recycled, leaving just 4,567 tons of waste.
- Employment
Circle has provided jobs to at least 71 people that were unemployed
at the time of recruitment. 20 staff are now in full time
employment receiving valuable “on the job” training.
- Tax paid
Circle has contributed more than £1million to the United Kingdom
through tax paid in respect of VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax and
Landfill tax.
- Circle has
•
saved customers money when landfill costs approach £100 per
tonne.
•
partners’ social objectives.
•
assisted clients achieve their environmental objectives.
We are now sending our old Landfill
Waste to Transwaste for further recycling of waste to energy. We
are now achieving a recycling rate of 99.6%
!
CIRCLE, or the Construction Industry
Recycling Centre for the Local Environment, is a joint venture
between G&J Seddon, The Riverside Group and Plus Housing
group.
It operates a recycling plant, offering a
new approach to managing and sorting construction waste, from
state-of-the-facilities at a unique site in North Liverpool. The
site was established in 2006 and has continued to grow from
strength to strength.
Currently, more than 90% of construction
waste could be recycled, yet 80% is still disposed of via landfill.
CIRCLE aims to change this and help meet the Government’s landfill
reduction targets by processing more than 40,000 tonnes of
construction waste a year - that’s equivalent to the weight of 20
double-decker buses every day.
It aims
to recycle 90% of waste, thereby reducing the landfill burden and
providing jobs for local people in its daily operations.
CIRCLE has been the proud recipient of a
“Highly Commended” award issued by the Housebuilding Innovation
Awards initiative which recognises innovation and excellence.
Is your organisation part of the
solution to recycling in a new and unique way?
The construction industry accounts for
nearly a third of all waste in the UK – that’s almost 100,000,000
tonnes a year. The vast majority of this is simply discarded to
landfills, with all the environmental problems that brings.
Responsible recycling and reusing are at
the heart of our vision and we are proud to have seen many
recyclable materials take on a different life including timber from
building projects transformed into bedding for the most prestigious
racecourses at Ascot, tonnes of glass from old buildings used to
give a high grip finish to tarmac areas near to crossings and even
mountains of discarded plastic packaging turning up in pillows and
quilts to provide a good night’s sleep!
Britain’s landfill sites are filling up fast.
As well as the logistical problems this causes, continued reliance
on landfill poses a serious threat of contaminated soil, water and
air pollution. In addition landfill taxes are continuing to
increase putting ever increasing costs on larger organisations
disposing of their waste.
Key benefits for companies who use the CIRCLE
service include:
- cost savings
- high levels of environmental efficiency
- quality customer care
- making a valuable contribution towards community based
environmental and social responsibilities.
Work in partnership with us.

We positively encourage visitors to our
innovative Blackstone Street site as we believe 'seeing is
believing' and we are proud to show our high housekeeping
standards, documentation and health and safety and environmental
procedures. Many local and governmental groups have visited the
site to gain an insight into the way we work.
By using CIRCLE, your organisation will no longer be part of the
environmental problem; instead you will be helping to pioneer the
solution, spearheading an initiative that will make CIRCLE a leader
in waste management whilst creating new employment opportunities in
the local area.
CIRCLE is not just for contractors working with Riverside, PLUS
Housing Group and G&J Seddon. Any contractor can use CIRCLE for
the disposal of construction waste and welcomes enquires regarding
different levels of quantities for recycling. CIRCLE’s client base
includes builders, contractors and housing associations.
We welcome enquiries from all types of organisations of all
shapes and sizes. Please contact us using any of the following
