Children from Belle Vale are invited to have
their say on how a local green space should be developed at a
special event this Friday 17 February, 2pm until 4pm, at Sarum Park
in Belle Vale.
Riverside is ploughing around £150,000 into
developing the park, which is currently underused and
dilapidated. The social landlord is asking children which
types of play equipment they would like to see, as well as opening
a competition to rename the park and design a sign for it.
The development is the first of a wider £5 million environmental project to
improve public spaces in the Childwall, Netherley and Belle Vale
areas of the city.
Elise Watson is Riverside’s neighbourhood
manager. She said: “Our green space strategy for the
area sits alongside a major new building programme to provide 500
more affordable homes for rent and for sale over the next five
years. We’ve been talking to residents to find out their
preferred use of outdoor spaces in their neighbourhoods. And
we are keen for children to have their say, especially on play
equipment.”
The event is free to children of all ages who
live in Belle Vale. Winners of the name the park competition
will be announced next Tuesday, 21 February at a follow up event in
the park.
