Need a loan? Don't Use a Loan Shark!
If you need money, there are services which
can help – even if you have a poor credit history. Doorstep lenders
can cost more than you think… did you know that many doorstep
lenders charge over 250% APR on their loans!
There is an alternative
Whether you need help with unexpected
outgoings or to cover the cost of bills, birthdays or Christmas,
then give your local Credit Union a try. Credit
Unions are not-for-profit community organisations run by members,
for members. If you live or work in an area with a Credit Union you
can start saving with them and you may also be eligible to take out
an affordable loan.
To find your nearest credit union vist the
ABCUL
website.
In addition, Riverside champions affordable loan services in Lee
Valley (Riverside Credit Union), Wirral and St Helens (Moneyline).
You can apply for an affordable loan through Moneyline, a
not-for-profit organisation set up to help people get loans where a
bank or building society can’t help. Whether you need help with
unexpected outgoings or to cover the cost of bills, birthdays or
Christmas, then give Moneyline a try. Contact your local office for
more information.
Report a loan shark in confidence
A loan shark is anybody lending money
without a license from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT).
If you are experiencing problems with a loan
shark, have been approached by a loan shark or know of loan sharks
operating in your area then report them in confidence to the Brian
Shields Trust on 0333 554 545 or visit their website at Brian Shields
Trust.
