A Bowlee Park Housing home in the Langley area

Bowlee Park Housing Association is a charitable housing association that was established to take over local ownership and management of the Langley estate in Rochdale. Following a successful ‘yes’ vote, (the vote saw a 75.5% turnout, of which 90.4% voted yes) this estate transferred in September 2002 from Manchester City Council.

Location

Located in the Middleton area of North Manchester, Bowlee Park Housing operates across a wide variety of communities. The area lies 6 miles outside of Rochdale.

Homes

Bowlee Park Housing owns 2500 homes on the Langley estate made up mainly of family houses and built in the 1950s. The homes were formerly part of Manchester
City Council’s stock and transferred to Bowlee Park Housing in 2002. Following the merger with English Churches Housing Group, we have an additional 474 properties throughout Greater Manchester, Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Initiatives

The main initiative for Bowlee Park Housing over the next five years will be the major refurbishment of homes across the whole area. More than £35M will be spent on improving tenants’ homes including new windows and doors, central heating, kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Demolition of 800 long term void houses and the redevelopment of 600 new homes for sale in partnership with Lovells.
  • Refurbishment of 2,200 homes for rent.
  • Wider estate environmental works around the estate and the local area.
  • Lead body in Langley for Housing Market Renewal Fund activity
  • Wardens funded through Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF)
