Riverside in Lee Valley - About Us

A Lee Valley Housing home

Better Together

Lee Valley Housing has officially amalgamated with its parent housing association Riverside.

The Riverside Group has undergone a restructure, which has seen eight pre-existing housing associations, including Lee Valley, be amalgamated into a single entity known as Riverside.

The result is an organisation with the strengths of a national player but the personal touch of a local provider.

The reorganisation makes savings which will allow us to invest more money into improving our homes and local service delivery.

About us

Riverside in the Lee Valley area received Liverpool City Council housing stock following a stock transfer in January 2003. The transfer went through after a secret ballot that showed 78.5% of the valid voters saying “yes” to the transfer to Riverside. The turnout for the vote was 68.2%.

Location

Riverside's office is located in the heart of the Netherley and Valley area (Naylorsfield Drive), delivering a first class service in the areas known as Childwall/Hartsbourne, Lee Park, Belle Vale/Naylorsfield and Netherley. The area lies 7 miles outside of Liverpool city centre. In May 2006 stock was increased in Lee Valley after receiving housing stock from other parts of the Riverside Group and now manages homes located in Gateacre, Woolton, Garston, Grassendale and Halewood.

Initiatives

The main objective for Riverside over the next few years will be to continue the major refurbishment of homes across the whole area which commenced in January 2003. By the end of 2008 more than £35M will have been spent on improving tenants’ homes including new windows and doors, central heating, kitchens and bathrooms.

A significant new-build programme is also underway to replace some of the unpopular properties that have already been demolished. The funding for the new homes has been provided in part by the Housing Corporation and Liverpool City Council. The new build programme, which commenced early in 2002, has seen new houses and bungalows built for rent and shared ownership in Lee Park and Childwall/Hartsbourne areas. In addition to this Riverside is working closely with the developer to build more homes for rent and sale.

Major investment - what we have done so far:

  • Window and door replacement programme in Lee Park and Hartsbourne
  • Insulation programmes to reduce fuel consumption and increase disposable income
  • Security programme to flat blocks in Lee Park and Hartsbourne
  • Pilot flat conversion scheme to create more sustainable homes in Hartsbourne
  • Cyclical painting programme
  • New kitchens in Belle Vale, Naylorsfiel, Hartsbourne and Netherley
  • New central heating systems to all properties in Lee Park, Hartsbourne, with Netherley programme underway
  • Bathroom programme
