In today’s challenging environment young
people are finding it harder than ever to access employment and
training opportunities. Irvine Housing Association has
stepped in to help two local young people begin their career in
housing.
Emma Wilson and William Dunlop are being mentored by
Association staff as they complete the North Ayrshire Housing
Careers Training Programme at the Association’s head office in
Irvine. The programme is funded by North Ayrshire Council and
Lowlands and Uplands Scotland European Social Fund and was
developed in partnership with Cunninghame Housing Association. It
provides young people in North Ayrshire with a route into housing
management and administration. Emma and William will be studying
for their SVQ Level 2 in Business Administration over the next 9
months.
Nicola Thom, Executive Director (Operations)
is delighted to be supporting the initiative for the second year
running, “Following the
success of last year’s trainees, we jumped at the opportunity
continue to invest in and support the training programme for a
second time. Our former trainees are now in sustainable employment
with the Association.”
“Emma and William have settled in
well and are being mentored by operations staff Leanne Rodgers and
John Brennan. Through the training programme they will develop the
skills, knowledge and qualifications they need to succeed in their
future housing careers.”
