Pennyburn Regeneration

One of the of the promises we made to our communities as part of the Constitutional Partnership with Riverside was the guarantee that we would demolish the Pennyburn Flats, Kilwinning and regenerate the area with new build housing and environmental improvements.

The 48 flats in Glenapp Place and Sundrum Place are to be replaced with approximately 22 two and three-bed houses on the existing footprint of the flats and car park area to the front.

A Steering Group of local tenants and residents has been set up to advise us on the best options for the community and the issues that

are important locally.  We held an initial consultation event in October 2011. A further planning consultation event was held in April 2012.

All tenants from the flats have now been rehoused. Planning permission was submitted in October 2012. Demolition works are expected to start in late spring/early summer 2013 and it is hoped that the new homes will be completed by late summer 2014.
