Domestic abuse support services from Riverside Group

Riverside creates positive outcomes for women, men and children affected by domestic abuse through the services we provide. We operate specialist refuges for women and children fleeing domestic abuse, as well as working with perpetrators to change their abusive behaviours.

Each of our customers is appointed a personal Riverside support worker to create a bespoke, structured support plan. Our aim is to empower those fleeing domestic abuse by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to move on. Our support starts with equipping, those who face domestic abuse, to recognise abusive behaviour and understand how to keep themselves safe.

We build their self-confidence and help them develop the skills to maintain their accommodation thus ensuring a positive future for themselves and their family. Recognising the importance of working with perpetrators as part of the solution to domestic abuse, Riverside has developed partnerships with a range of agencies including SeaChange – a leading provider of programmes, working with individuals to identify, manage and change their abusive behaviour.

Importantly, our expertise incorporates support for children who have witnessed or experienced domestic abuse, as well as young people who have experienced other forms of domestic abuse such as forced marriage, honour-based violence or female genital mutilation.

To ensure a holistic response, Riverside develops partnerships with agencies such as the Police, Local Authorities, Social Services, health professionals, Solicitors and many other organisations working to combat various forms of abuse.

The support systems we have available at our schemes include:

  • Safety planning, including making move-on housing safe from perpetrators
  • External employment & skills training.
  • Counselling and In house life-skills and parenting programmes.
  • Support for children including awareness training, after school clubs, and organised activities.
  • Member of Refuges Online data service.
  • All our specialist refuges offer fully furnished self-contained accommodation.  .
