What is Open House?

Open House Plus provides support and housing for single, homeless people, aged 16 or over in the Doncaster area. We help you explore a positive way of living, being able to make your own choices in a safe environment, free from abuse and neglect. 

Whether you’re needing a place to stay or just that extra support network to get you back on your feet, the team at Open House Plus are ready to offer you the lifeline you may need. From crisis-intervention to health access, education and training to money advice services; we identify areas and opportunities that will make an impact – our main aim is ensuring a successful move on with sustainable tenancy. 

Rough Sleeper Service

You’ll find:

  • 26 self-contained rooms within the supported housing scheme.
  • Shared bathroom and kitchen facilities.
  • Communal recreation areas including TVs and exercise equipment.
  • Multi-purpose training room.
  • Dedicated support worker offering one-to-one support with budgeting, accessing education, training and employment opportunities and managing a tenancy.
  • Activities to promote customer involvement and life skills like cooking on a budget and healthy living sessions.
  • Facilitating volunteering opportunities.
  • Signposting to health, social and money advice services.
  • Support with liaising with local housing associations and private landlords.
  • Keep-in-touch service for 12-18 months after successfully moving into independent accommodation.

Our support team have a wealth of experience of working with vulnerable adults and supporting homeless people with complex support needs. By working with you, and in partnership with local agencies, you’ll get the support you need to boost your confidence and move towards living an independent life in your own home.

You’ll get 24-hour structured, support plan which is tailored to your needs. This will include building practical and social skills to encourage independence within our relaxed and friendly environment.

How it works?

As part of your experience at Open House Plus you’ll get the opportunity to work with The Places of Change service. This provides education and training opportunities to enhance life skills ahead of your move into independent accommodation. You will find an outline of the other parts of our service below.

Why we are different?

With our structured one-to-one support system, your dedicated support worker can provide you with advice on how to get involved in the scheme. Referrals for the scheme only come from the Home Options Team at St Leger Homes. You have to be homeless, single and over the age of 16.
