Weetslade Court is a modern Extra Care housing scheme designed to help people live independently while having care and support close by. Built in 2014, the scheme offers stylish décor and a warm, welcoming environment where residents can enjoy privacy in their own apartment as well as shared spaces for socialising.
The development is set in a leafy suburb with good bus links into Newcastle upon Tyne and Gosforth high street. A local high street is just a five-minute walk away and includes a bakery, florist, coffee shop, Co-op, bookmakers, hardware store, hairdressers, beauticians, Barbour’s, and a local pub. Residents can also enjoy the landscaped garden, which has raised beds and plenty of seating to relax outdoors.
Each resident has a pendant alarm to call onsite staff in an emergency. A range of assistive technology is available, including door sensors, bed and chair pressure sensors, activity monitors, enuresis sensors for people who are incontinent, and fall detectors for those at higher risk. For residents who rent their apartment, care needs are assessed by social services, and support is delivered by the onsite care team. Staff are always available to answer questions and explain care and funding options.
