Tenancy management information

Understanding your tenancy

When you move into your new home, a Riverside Housing Officer will explain your tenancy agreement and give you your keys. They will also arrange home visits to make sure you’re settling in well and that everything is running smoothly.

Support with tenancy issues

Our team can help with a range of tenancy needs, including:

  • adding or removing household members
  • making name changes after someone has left, married or passed away
  • dealing with neighbour problems, harassment or domestic abuse
  • getting support if you’re having trouble paying your rent
Meet your EMB Community Officer

You’ll also meet the EMB Community Officer. They will explain the benefits of joining the EMB and tell you about local facilities and activities, such as:

  • the community walled garden
  • day trips for families
  • community events and fun days

Every new tenant receives an EMB information leaflet. It explains what the Estate Management Board does and how you can get involved in shaping your community.

Neighbourhood walkabouts

The Community Officer also leads neighbourhood walkabouts with residents, local councillors, police officers, staff and board members. These walkabouts give people a chance to raise issues, suggest improvements and help shape services in the area.

An office on the estate opens Monday to Thursday 9:15am to 12:15pm and Friday by appointment only for tenants to access these and other services.

Childwall Valley EMB Board

Before the homes were transferred to Lee Valley Housing Association, and later to Riverside, tenants and residents were unhappy with the condition of their estate. The repair service was very limited, which left many homes in poor condition. People didn’t want to live there, and this led to vandalism and more anti-social behaviour.

A community group called HADCA (Hartsbourne and District Community Association) told the Council they were not happy with the service they were getting and believed they could do better. In their own time, they spent the next two years training to learn how to manage a housing estate.

After their training, HADCA asked tenants to vote for them, and they won. In April 2000, the Childwall Valley Estate Management Board was formed. Four HADCA members are still fully involved today.
