The Beacon, Catterick Garrison

What you will find at the accommodation

How the service works

The Beacon provides safe, supported accommodation for veterans while they take part in a planned programme of support. Residents can stay for up to 18 months. During this time, staff work closely with each person to build the skills needed to live independently.

Support focuses on everyday living skills, improving health and wellbeing, and getting ready for work or training. Veterans are also helped to reconnect with services and build positive support networks. The goal is to help each resident move on confidently into independent housing in an area of their choice.

Key outcomes for veterans

  • Ability to maintain a tenancy independently
  • Improved work readiness or employment
  • Better mental and physical health
  • Reduced substance dependency
  • Stronger social and informal support networks
  • A successful transition to civilian life
