Blackmore House supports people with complex mental and physical health needs. We can also provide extra help for people with mobility or cognitive needs, and for those with a past history of alcohol or substance misuse.
Support is personalised and flexible. Each person works with their Journey Coach to set their own goals and build confidence at their own pace. There is no time limit on how long someone can stay. When the time is right, we support people to move on to independent living, other supported housing, or retirement living.
If someone needs more intensive care, we work closely with healthcare professionals to explore additional care packages that match their needs. We also have strong working relationships with community mental health teams and social workers to support wellbeing.
Our approach is based on Good Help principles, Clean Language techniques, and co-production. This means we do things with people, not for them. We use Enabling Language and supportive conversations to help people feel safe, take action, and build resilience. As confidence grows, we step back so people can take more control themselves.
Staff are trained to respond positively to challenging behaviour and use Success Agreements to help people understand the link between their actions and outcomes.
