Centre 28 provides a pathway of supported housing and outreach services for young people aged 16–21. The services help young people move from supported accommodation into more independent living, with the right level of support at each stage.
Centre 28
Centre 28 is a local authority‑commissioned service for young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Each young person has their own bedroom and shares communal spaces with others living in the same house.
The support team works with young people on a wide range of needs, including physical and mental health, substance misuse, life skills, benefits and budgeting, education, employment and volunteering. Staff also help young people access specialist services when needed.
The service focuses on building confidence, independence and practical skills to help young people prepare for their next step.
Intensive Outreach Flats Terry Street (close to Centre 28)
The Intensive Outreach service is designed as a next step for young people moving on from Centre 28. Each young person lives in their own flat and receives support Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Outside of these hours, young people can still contact or visit Centre 28 for support. The service helps young people manage more responsibility while still having a safety net in place.
Cosford Garth, North Hull
Cosford Garth supports young people who are close to moving into their own long‑term accommodation. Support is provided Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 5pm.
Staff help young people strengthen their independent living skills, manage their tenancy and prepare for living on their own.
Young People’s Floating Support Service - city-wide
The floating support service helps young people who have moved into their own council accommodation. Support is provided Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
The team helps young people with:
- Looking after their new home
- Setting up and managing utilities
- Applying for furniture grants
- Managing debts
- Registering with a GP and dentist
- Accessing other local services
The service works closely with care leaver teams and other local authority services to help young people sustain their tenancies.
