Jamaica Street Project, Bristol

What you will find at the accommodation

How the service works

The Jamaica Street Project provides emergency accommodation and high-level support for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Kingsdown, Bristol. The service supports people to increase confidence in managing mental health needs or drug and alcohol dependency, improve everyday life skills, and prepare for moving into more suitable long-term accommodation.

All referrals are made through the Bristol City Council Housing Support Register. You must be single, aged 18 or over, and have a local connection to Bristol. The team works closely with you to plan your move-on, liaising with local housing associations and private landlords to help you find appropriate accommodation.

Support continues beyond your stay. The service offers up to three months of follow-up support after you move on, helping you settle into your new home and maintain stability.

Getting the most out of the service

Residents are supported to find a route back into employment and are helped to access training and volunteering opportunities to build skills and confidence. The service also works closely with specialist mental health and drug and alcohol services, helping you get fast support during a crisis and longer-term help to build strong support networks and relationships.

How this service is different

The Jamaica Street Project is delivered as a Psychologically Informed Environment, focusing on building self-worth, confidence, hope, and belief, so each person can set their own goals and decide how they want to use support to achieve the best possible outcomes.
