The Quays works in partnership with Kent Homeless Connect to provide accommodation and support for adults aged 18 and over who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Support is strengths‑based and focused on helping people move towards independent living and break the cycle of homelessness.
People living at The Quays may have complex support needs, such as mental health challenges, substance misuse issues, or experiences of trauma. The service supports people who are rough sleeping, homeless, at risk of homelessness, or otherwise affected by homelessness.
All referrals to The Quays are made through Kent Homeless Connect, either directly, through your Local Authority, or via the Kent Homeless Connect helpline. From the point of referral, experienced Coaches work with each person to develop a personalised support plan.
Support focuses on helping people access local services such as GP surgeries, drug and alcohol services, education, training, and employment opportunities. Coaches also help people identify their skills, interests and strengths, and use these to build confidence and independence. Planning for move‑on accommodation begins from day one, with a clear resettlement plan and up to six months of follow‑on support once someone is ready to move on.
