Sefton Families Service

What you will find at the accommodation

How the service works

Families are provided with a furnished temporary home while they receive tailored support from a Specialist Support Worker. The worker will visit families regularly, either in their home or at a suitable local venue, depending on what works best for each family.

Together, families and the Specialist Support Worker create a personal action plan based on individual needs and goals. This can include help with benefits, housing, money management, health, safety, and family wellbeing.

The service works closely with other agencies to make sure families get the right support at the right time. This includes Adult and Children’s Services, health services, domestic abuse services, welfare rights teams, probation and the police.

Families are supported to manage their licence agreement during their stay and are helped to move on to permanent accommodation, either with Riverside or another landlord.

When families move into permanent housing, referrals are made to other support services where needed, to help maintain long-term stability.

Outcomes of the service

  • Sustaining a tenancy in both temporary and permanent homes
  • Improved health and wellbeing for families
  • Stronger links within the local community
  • Progress towards personal and family goals set out in the support plan
  • Ongoing support through referrals after moving into permanent housing
