Shaw Street provides supported accommodation for young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The service is designed for those with low to medium support needs who are ready to live more independently, with guidance and help available during the day.
Each resident has their own self‑contained flat and works closely with support staff to create a personalised support plan. Regular meetings and reviews help track progress and make sure the right support is in place. Staff focus on helping young people build confidence, stability, and practical life skills so they can move on to permanent housing when ready.
Support includes help with budgeting, managing debts, applying for welfare benefits, understanding licence agreements, organising utilities, and applying for long‑term housing. The team also helps residents connect with training providers, employers, and local services, and puts safeguards in place to help manage and reduce crisis situations.
Eligibility criteria
To join Shaw Street, you must:
- Be aged 16 to 21 years old
- Be able to live with low‑level, daytime support
- Be single, or a couple where accommodation is suitable
- Have no access to settled accommodation
- Have support needs that can be met through low to medium supported housing
