Shepherd Court provides temporary supported accommodation for single people and couples aged 18 and over who are affected by homelessness. The service supports people with low to medium mental health needs and/or an offending history. All flats are self‑contained, helping customers to live independently while receiving the right level of support.
Each customer is matched with their own Support Worker. Together, they create a person‑centred support plan based on individual needs and goals. Support Workers meet regularly with customers and offer practical help with everyday issues such as budgeting, dealing with correspondence, accessing benefits, and registering with a GP or dentist.
The service also helps customers work with external agencies and organisations. This includes support to access mental and physical health services, substance misuse support, training, volunteering, and employment opportunities. Shepherd Court works closely with local authorities and private landlords to help customers move on successfully into longer‑term housing and overcome any barriers to doing so.
Expected outcomes include improved wellbeing and healthier lifestyles, increased confidence, better budgeting skills, reduced risk of self‑harm where appropriate, and successful move‑on to sustained tenancies. Ongoing support referrals can be arranged if needed.
