Stopover is based in Victoria Park, Manchester, and provides short-term supported housing for young women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Referrals are made through Housing Solutions at Manchester Town Hall, and we also accept referrals from adult social services and care leavers through an agreed pathway.
To move into Stopover, you must be female, aged 18–25, and willing to show motivation and commitment to engage with the support on offer. During your stay, you will be supported to build independent living skills, improve confidence, and work towards employment, education or training.
Residents can stay for up to six months. During this time, staff will work closely with you and other housing providers to help you find suitable move-on accommodation. Customers from The Beeches, our sister project, may also move to Stopover once they have established a routine and are ready to live more independently.
You will be supported to:
- Rebuild relationships with family, where appropriate
- Stay safe and improve mood, motivation and confidence
- Overcome barriers that may be holding you back
- Develop tenancy and independent living skills, including training through Centrepoint
- Prepare for longer-term housing, with access to floating support to help you sustain your next home
