The Powerhouse, Liverpool

What you will find at the accommodation

How the service works

The Powerhouse is a temporary supported accommodation service for young people aged 16 to 21. It is designed to help you build the skills and confidence you need to live independently. You will have your own self‑contained home and a named support worker who works with you one‑to‑one.

Together, you and your support worker will set realistic and achievable goals based on what you want to achieve. Support focuses on preparing you for your own tenancy and helping you move on to permanent accommodation when you are ready.

When you successfully move into your own home and maintain your tenancy, you can continue to get help from the Riverside Floating Support Team. This includes support to access furniture, funding, and ongoing advice.

This service supports young people aged 16–21 who have medium to high housing needs and no access to settled accommodation. The focus is on stability, safeguarding, and helping young people move forward in a safe and supportive environment.

Support includes:

  • Learning independent living skills such as cooking, budgeting, and basic DIY
  • Help to access physical and mental health services
  • Support to find and keep permanent accommodation
  • Help to access training, employment, apprenticeships, and volunteering
  • Support to stabilise chaotic lifestyles
  • Building positive links within the local community
  • Benefits and welfare advice to maximise income

Floating Support

After moving on from The Powerhouse, you can still access floating support services and drop‑in advice sessions based at the scheme. This helps you sustain your tenancy and access any additional support you may need.
