The STAGES Academy is a supported housing scheme and part of the Places for Change programme. It provides trial flats and structured support for some of the most vulnerable and socially excluded people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Middlesbrough.
We offer more than accommodation. Our focus is on helping people build confidence, improve wellbeing, and move towards independent living through practical help, emotional support, and meaningful daily activities.
The STAGES Academy is open to people aged 16 to 65 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and have support needs. Before moving in, you will complete a risk and needs assessment to make sure the scheme is right for you.
Support is provided through a staged programme, designed to help you gain skills, confidence, and independence over time. Your Support Worker will work closely with you to set goals and help you overcome challenges. As you progress, we will support you to move on to suitable accommodation, working with private landlords and local housing associations.
Getting the Most Out of Our Service
Our aim is to help you move forward positively and reconnect with the community. You will be encouraged to take part in activities, use the on‑site health services, and build the skills needed for independent living. We work at your pace while offering clear structure and ongoing support.
