The Wakefield Rough Sleeper Team provides support to people who are sleeping rough in Wakefield. The service is delivered by Riverside on behalf of Wakefield Council.
The team works directly on the streets, speaking with people who are homeless and offering help to improve their situation. Their aim is to reduce rough sleeping and support people to access the help they need.
How to Refer Someone Sleeping Rough
If you have seen someone sleeping rough, you can help connect them to support.
When you make a referral, please describe the location as clearly and accurately as possible.
For example:
- Say where in a park someone is sleeping, not just the park name
- Include nearby landmarks, streets, or buildings if you can
This helps outreach workers find the person quickly and safely.
If You Are Sleeping Rough or Know Someone Who Is
You can make a referral through Streetlink, the national service for reporting rough sleeping.
Streetlink will pass the information to the local outreach team so they can respond.
