Young Person and Single Parent Project, YPSP, Derby

What you will find at the accommodation

How the service works

The Young Person and Single Parent Project (YPSP) provides supported housing for young people and single teenage parents who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The service is designed to help residents build skills, confidence, and stability so they can move towards independent living.

Each resident is allocated a dedicated support worker who works with them to create a tailored STEPS programme. This programme focuses on helping people make informed choices about their lives, develop independence, and address any support needs they may have.

YPSP works closely with local authorities and professional agencies to provide specialist support. The service supports a wide range of people, including young people, care leavers, ex-offenders, people with drug or alcohol misuse issues, and single teenage parents.

YPSP accepts referrals from Derby City Council, Social Services, Probation Services, After Care Services, and other agencies that work with young people and single parents.

Placements are offered following an interview to make sure the service is the right fit for the individual. Once accepted, residents receive accommodation alongside practical and emotional support to help them move forward.
