What does getting involved in my community mean?

It simply means taking part in something happening where you live. That could be coming along to an event, joining a local group, sharing your ideas or helping with a community project.

You decide what feels right for you.

How much time do I need to commit?

As much or as little as you like. Some activities might only take an hour or two, while others happen regularly.

We’ll always let you know what’s involved before you decide to take part.

Do I have to take part every time?

No. Getting involved is flexible.

You can choose the activities that interest you and take part when it suits you. There’s no expectation that you attend everything.

Do I need any experience?

Not at all. You don’t need any special skills or previous experience.

Your experiences as a resident and your ideas about your community are what matter.

Can I come along on my own?

Absolutely. You’ll be made welcome, and there’ll be people there to help you settle in and introduce you to others.

Depending on the activity, you may also be able to bring a friend, family member or neighbour.

What if I need support to take part?

We want our activities to be accessible to everyone.

If there’s something that would make it easier for you to take part, tell us when you get in touch and we’ll talk through how we can support you.
