The Oval Centre is a community centre and conferencing facility in the heart of the Salterbeck estate.
We can offer comprehensive, spacious, and multi-functional conferencing facilities and services. A great location for anyone looking to run a conference, exhibition or sales event, run training courses, charity or club events.

Our friendly drop in is run every week by our fully trained volunteers.
Here if you want to chat to someone who understands what life’s like with MS, get information, or find out what services are available where you live, our groups can help.
Our group:

- influence national and local services
- raise vital funds to support our work.
We meet every Friday between 11am and 1pm for a friendly time of craft, chat and a cup of tea (and maybe some cake and biscuits). Everyone is welcome to have a chat, learn new crafts, share ideas and advice. And more importantly have crafting fun.
Everyone is welcome, we have a mixture of abilities and interests. So if you want to try something new or need some on advice, come and join us.
Our aim is to help improve the lives and surroundings of people living and working on the Salterbeck Estate in Workington.

Fit 4 Life is a Social Enterprise set up with the aim of aim to improve the health and well-being of all local people, especially those who have, or who are at risk of developing chronic diseases such as Coronary Heart Disease, Diabetes and Strokes.

The Oval Centre is currently running a Warm Spot.
We are offering:
- Free breakfasts Monday to Friday 9am – 11am
- Free hot drinks and biscuits from 9am – 4.30pm
- Free Soup and a Roll every Friday 12 – 2pm in conjunction with Carnegie Theatre & Arts Centre
We also have a selection of books, jigsaws, cards and boardgames.

Directions
- Leave the M6 at Junction 40 for Penrith, take the first left at the roundabout and follow the A66 to the Cockermouth roundabout. Take the third exit. Follow the road to the next roundabout take the first left.
- Follow the A66 until you reach a roundabout with a left hand turn onto the A595.
- Take the A595 past the Melbreak hotel. Go straight ahead at the first and second roundabouts.
- At the third roundabout you will need to turn right onto the A597 heading for Harrington. You will pass by the Lakes College on your right.
- Follow the A597 through Harrington for approximately 2 miles.
- Go straight ahead at the traffic lights in Harrington.
- The Oval Centre is signposted, turn right opposite the British Legion.
- The Oval Centre is on the left-hand side with free parking on site.
- Follow the A66 until you reach a roundabout with a left hand turn onto the A595.
- Take the A595 past the Melbreak hotel. Go straight ahead at the first and second roundabouts.
