Work is now underway on a brand-new extra care scheme in Workington, which will offer 107 affordable homes and a range of community facilities, including an onsite hairdressing salon, restaurant and other communal areas.

The development, situated on Lawson Street, will offer a mix of supported housing and social housing for the local community.

The scheme will consist of 79 modern apartments of Extra Care housing, for people over 55 and with an eligible care need – there will be a mix of one and two bedroomed properties.

The site will also include 28 affordable rent bungalows for people aged over 55.
