Riverside set to transform more than 1,000 homes through £26m decarbonisation project

More than 1,000 Riverside families and customers are set to receive transformative new energy efficiency works to their homes thanks to a £26million new investment.

£26 million decarbonisation project

A combination of £12.7m of Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) money, secured via the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), and an additional £13m from Riverside, will fund the project and deliver transformational change to homes in Cumbria, Liverpool and London.

Constructive Thinking, Equans and Wates have been appointed to support delivery of design, delivery, compliance and customer aftercare in line with the funding requirements.

Initial surveys will soon be underway to start to scope which properties will be chosen and what measures delivered.

Ian Gregg, Executive Director of Asset Services at Riverside, said:

“This is a hugely exciting project which will have a transformative effect on some of our most in-need properties.

“It will deliver real, tangible benefits to more than 1,000 families and customers and represents a kick-start for our work towards reaching a net zero position.

“At a time of rising fuel bills and the cost-of-living crisis, this couldn’t be better timed so we’re extremely grateful to the SHDF and DESNZ for their support and we’re looking forward to getting started.”

Customers whose properties are selected for surveys will be contacted directly.

Riverside and partners will then analyse the outcomes of surveys to plan works and select the properties most in need of energy efficiency works.
