Armed Forces Day, our commitment to Veterans

With Veterans and the Armed Services high up in the headlines in the run up to Armed Forces Day, Helen Gore, Riverside’s Head of Supported Housing highlights our important commitment to helping ex-Servicemen and Women make a successful transition to civilian life:

“Armed Forces Day this Saturday is an opportunity to recognise the dedication and sacrifices of men and women who protect our freedoms during times of peace and conflict and as part of our activities this year, Riverside is launching our Veterans and Armed Forces Strategy which highlights our key commitments to Veterans.

“At Riverside we are proud to champion support for Veterans who have struggled with the transition back to civilian life. Our teams deliver advice, support and housing services across the country to Veterans who would otherwise be homeless, enabling them to build better futures for themselves.

“As one of the country’s leading social housing providers, we are also proud to employ Veterans and Reservists as part of our housing teams.   We know that the skills they bring enhance our services both in our Veterans-dedicated schemes and also our general housing developments.

“And if that wasn’t reason enough to be proud about our work, I am particularly thrilled Riverside has just received the Bronze Award from the Corporate Covenant’s Employer Recognition Scheme which independently recognises organisations’ commitment to members of the Armed Forces.”
