AFC Kingston Jaguars receives funding

Riverside has provided £600 of funding to AFC Kingston Jaguars, a local football team.

AFC Kingston Jaguars who train at Kingswood Academy, North Bransholme in Hull are a well-run and organised football club, established in 2011.

The club has 5 teams with approximately 15-20 children in each team, consisting of children who live within the locality around Kingwood Academy which covers North Bransholme and extends to other parts of Bransholme and East Hull.

The club also has many volunteers who work really hard within the club to gain sponsorship to support the teams with kits, equipment, match day officials costs and now the pressure of paying for the pitches for training sessions and match days.

The volunteers strive to provide a positive environment for local children to take part in physical activities which also raise their confidence, self-esteem and self-worth.  It’s an environment whereby team work and positive attitude is created and the children take this attitude off the pitch back to the local community.

Debbie Cox, Volunteer Administrator for AFC Kingston Jaguars said “Each of the teams within the club needs to raise money each year to use the facility on match days as well as the monthly fees for training sessions.  Although the children work really hard themselves to with events such as bag packs at local supermarkets and sponsored bike rides the £600 sponsorship from Riverside will really make a difference”.

Lee Bailey, Riverside said “we are always keen to support local community groups and are pleased to be able to help out this local club, to enable local children take part in an activity which will not only give them health benefits but also self-confidence.  We wish them well for the forthcoming season.”
