Riverside has received complaints about anti-social behaviour in and around the Grampian Way shopping area and Aberdovey Park on North Bransholme.
The skate park, only opened in November last year after years of campaigning by youths on the estate, has also been damaged, covered in graffiti and signage vandalised. A park in Aberdovey Close was also targeted, with acts of vandalism, including breaking trees.
Riverside Assistant Director Carl Mitchell said: “In response to the community, Riverside invested significantly to upgrade play equipment and develop a new skate park. It is disappointing to see a minority of youths feel it acceptable to vandalise the play equipment, snap and break trees, write offensive graffiti and set fire to the youth shelter, for no gain other than to spoil the enjoyment of others.
“We will not tolerate this type of behaviour and damage. Formal action will be pursued to identify the individuals and groups responsible and, working closely with Hull City Council and the police, we will take appropriate criminal or tenancy enforcement action.
“Parents must take responsibility for the actions of their children and ensure they understand the need to respect facilities that are available to them and furthermore identify the small minority who are spoiling it for the majority of children.”
