A local community centre on North Bransholme has been given a new lease of life thanks to local companies, including Riverside which manages homes on the North Bransholme estate.
The North Bransholme Community centre situated at the heart of the community has been closed for over 2 years until Alpha Education Community Trust CIC came to the rescue.
Riverside has donated £1,000 of community chest funding to help renovate the centre. The funding will be used to upgrade the centre and work will initially begin on the kitchen and surrounding areas in April.
Once up and running the centre will provide activities for children and young people, including homework clubs and craft/sports clubs during school holidays. There will also be luncheon clubs to encourage elderly residents to get involved as well as opportunities to hire out the larger rooms for children’s parties and various other events.
Delivon Francis Director of Alpha Education Community Trust CIC said “We are really looking forward to opening the centre and making it part of the community once again to provide for the needs of people living in the Bransholme area. This will be a community centre, in the heart of the community to be used by the community”.

Lee Bailey, Riverside’s Community Engagement Team Leader said “We are really pleased that we have been able to contribute to this important community facility getting a second chance and really look forward to seeing it come to life once again, providing a variety of programmes for the local people.”
