Hairdressers and beauty therapists seeking a new business venture in Hull are invited to an event next week to find out how you can access a salon or treatment room rent-free.
In partnership with Hull City Council, Riverside and Wates Living Space Homes are building three extra care facilities across the city – Harrison Park at Hall Road; Cecil Gardens at Hawthorn Avenue and Redwood Glades at Leads Road.
Although the schemes are specifically designed for people with care and support needs, they also aim to be community hubs. Facilities such as communal garden areas, restaurants and hair and beauty salons will benefit both the residents and those in the surrounding areas.
Riverside is holding an information event at the Village Hotel in Hessle on Monday 4 April for entrepreneurs to find out about the custom-built hairdressing unit and wellbeing suite on offer at each site.
Sarah Knapp, Riverside’s Project Manager, said: “This is a fantastic business start-up opportunity for somebody in the early stages of their career or for a well-established hairdresser or therapist looking to branch out and become their own boss.
“In return for rent-free premises, we expect the successful candidates to offer training opportunities, allowing apprentices to work towards a national recognised qualification, or provide work placements in association with surrounding colleges and training providers.
“They will also need to have the ability to work with clients with a range of care needs and we are keen that they offer discounts for the residents, as well as special offers for the wider community.”
If you are interested in finding out more, come along to The Village Hotel, Henry Boot Way, Priory Way, Hessle, on Monday 4 April. The event will start at 10am with a presentation, followed by a Q&A session. There will also be an opportunity to view the proposed interiors.
