North Bransholme residents got involved with the creation of a wooden sculpture commemorating WWIto complement a mosaic installed near the estate skate park.
The memorial mosaic was overseen by artist Bernadette Hughes and was constructed by members of United Residents of Bransholme area North (URBaN), Riverside and over 700 local people.
Riverside commissioned sculptors Thompson and Tilly Dagnall to create a wooden sculpture, reminiscent of the World War I trenches, to reflect the messages already created in the mosaic.
The sculpture has been named Hull Pals in memory of the Hull Pals battalion, which was formed in 1914 at Wenlock Barracks and formed part of the East Yorkshire Regiment.
North Bransholme tenants and residents were invited to get involved in the final design of the sculpture by suggesting quotes or images that reflect World War I.
