Culinary delights from around the globe brought people together in an evening to celebrate the different cultures in Sittingbourne.
African, Asian, South American and Italian cuisines were just some of the tasty dishes cooked up by customers at The Quays on Crown Quay Lane, a housing and support service run by housing association Riverside to provide accommodation and support to homeless adults.
It took two days to prepare the grand feast for the cultural and diversity evening, which was attended by organisations and charities that work in partnership with the centre to provide help and support to customers.

Guest speaker the Mayoress of Swale, Pamela Prescott, gave an inspirational talk about The Quays’ great work and the important role it plays to the community, including its welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
Afro Beat artist and songwriter Silvastone made a special appearance and sang a selection of songs from his album Level.
“It was a beautiful sunny day to mark the event. This was a significant day to celebrate communities coming together to embrace different cultures and the diverse needs of people,” said Donna Lee, who has been a Service Manager at The Quays for 10 years.
She added: “Customers at The Quays helped staff cook a wide range of food – from Columbian, African, Caribbean and Asian cuisine, and of course cakes! The day went very well, it was great chance to showcase our customers’ culinary talents and celebrate culture and diversity in the community with our partners.”
