Customers at Vaughan House and St Saviours in Guildford have been taking part in IT and cookery courses, organised by Surrey Adult Learning.
Cooking on a Budget shows residents how to cook tasty meals and how to ‘buy smart’. Participants were each given a bagful of food each week, to the value of £3, and given advice on what to make, including tips on where to shop for the best bargains.
The IT course focused on Online Essentials, helping those with no, or limited, computer knowledge. It includes advice on how to use the keyboard and mouse, navigate screens, and how to send and receive emails and search the internet.
Both courses have proved popular, and there is now a waiting list for future sessions. Those taking part have gained a new level of confidence and a willingness to try new things.
