Toys help spread Christmas cheer in Palace Fields

A group of children in Runcorn got an extra special Christmas treat following a massive donation of toys.

More than 500 toys including table football sets, action figures and board games, were donated to Palace Fields Community Centre after a collection by Riverside staff.

Organisers at the centre then distributed the toys to deserving families at a special event on Christmas Eve.

The collection drive was part of Riverside’s support for the community in Halton Lea where it is investing £20m over the next 10 years in the Palace Fields and Hallwood Park area.

Riverside’s Regional Director, Dean Butterworth, said: “There’s an amazing community around Hallwood Park and Palace Fields and they really do an incredible job at the community centre of bringing people together, young and old.

“That’s very much like our team at Riverside – we’re a community too – so when people were asked to join in they were really excited to get involved.

“We wish everyone in Halton Lea – and all Riverside customers – a very Merry Christmas!”
