Ten households were safely evacuated last night at Hastie Close, Netherley following a fire.
An investigation is currently underway and Dean Butterworth, Riverside’s Regional Director – Liverpool City Region, has issued the following statement:
“We would like to sincerely thank the emergency services who attended this serious fire last night at Hastie Close. Their professionalism ensured that the fire was quickly brought under control and that all our customers were quickly and safely evacuated from the building. This was nevertheless a very distressing incident for our customers and we will be doing all we can to support them in the coming days and weeks.
A total of 10 households had to be evacuated and found alternative accommodation for the night. Three residents have been treated in hospital for smoke inhalation and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
Our 24 hour customer service centre was advised of the fire at 10pm and we had a member of staff on site within 20 minutes to work with the emergency services in supporting all the residents affected by the fire. Our customer services team provided additional support to ensure that everyone was safe and help them find alternative accommodation for the night.
“The damage to the building is quite considerable and we have a team of staff on site today who are now working directly with all affected tenants to ensure that they have all the support they need while the police investigation into the cause of the fire continues. Our repairs and maintenance team are assessing the full impact of the fire and the likely timescale for being able to bring the building back into use.”
