Expansion of Employment and Training Service to Customers

We have recently expanded our employment and training service to cover a number of areas in which we operate.

We have been delivering this service in Merseyside since 2010 and have helped more than 400 people secure employment.

Dawn Lanham, who is responsible for delivery of the service in Hull, the North East and Greater Manchester, said ‘Riverside is committed to revitalising communities and we are helping people to access job opportunities through our supply chain and with a range of local organisations’.

The Riverside team are experienced in helping people who have been out of work for some time and need some help in securing a job or training opportunity. We have established Job Clubs and are able to help people develop their job search and application skills through tailored one to one support.

Kate Alderson assists in delivering this service in the Langley area and has witnessed the impact that the help she provides has on individuals.

Kate said ‘Many people don’t realise how much experience they actually have. In the short time I have been with the team I have helped people with their CVs, job applications and preparing for interviews. It’s amazing to see people secure apprenticeships, jobs and training after I have helped them’.

Jake Artingstall volunteer LangleyJake Artingstall (21) has been volunteering with Riverside for the past few months.  Jake volunteers three days a week at the Langley office to obtain work experience.  As a result he has been helping out with employment and training projects and IT projects and also gets the added bonus of being included in the training that Riverside arranges for their tenants and residents.  So far Jake has taken part in training in communicating effectively, literacy champions and equality and diversity.

Jake said “I am really enjoying my time at Riverside and hope that the training and work experience I gain will secure me a career in the future.  I would definitely recommend volunteering to anyone, I really feel that it has built up my confidence which will be good for future job interviews and the volunteering will look good on my CV.”
