Planning and resilience

Within Greater Manchester and Cheshire East, we have developed Community Plans. The Community Plans are developed by key stakeholders, including our Riverside Customer Voice Executive and customer feedback, for neighbourhoods with stock of 250+ properties to address issues and challenges within a neighbourhood. Local Offers are produced as part of the plan, which provide feedback on customer surveys in the form of a leaflet (‘you said, we did’ style), which is posted to customers.

We currently have a community plan for Colshaw Farm, and a new one for Langley which has just been launched in May. A few examples of the customer feedback they have tackled include:

“There’s too much litter and fly-tipping.”– We have held a number of clean up days in Colshaw Farm, providing skips for residents to dispose of their rubbish. However, fly tipping continues to be an issue. Our Housing Officers are on the estates every week to identify any areas of concern and take action. We are also working closely with the Environmental Enforcement Officer at Cheshire East Council to identify and prosecute those who are fly tipping.

“We want you to deal with the overgrown trees” – 142 tree maintenance works jobs have been completed on Colshaw Farm following a tree survey on the whole estate.

“We are struggling with the ‘cost of living’” – As a result of the customer survey in Colshaw Farm we made 61 referrals to our Affordable Warmth, Welfare Benefits and Employment and Training Teams. Our Community Resilience Officer has been meeting with organisations within Colshaw Farm and Langley who we could support with funding, to deliver practical support, advice and guidance locally for our residents. We have also provided Wilmslow Community Garden with funding to expand their food growing offer.

“Anti Social Behaviour is an issue” – We have provided information on reporting ASB in all of our local offer documents and across Greater Manchester and Cheshire East our Customer Safety & Housing Officers are working closely with partner agencies such as the police and the council to tackle reported issues more efficiently and effectively.

In 2023/24 will be carrying out further work on both Colshaw Farm and Langley to address concerns raised by customers which are outlined in the community plans, and working with local resident groups to gather feedback and deliver activity that meets local needs.
