Supporting our communities with the cost-of-living

Bowlee Community Association was awarded £11,834.05 as part of the £250k Riverside Foundation donation to food insecurity projects in December 2022, during which time Bowlee were in the process of launching a new food pantry on the Langley estate.

This forms part of the ‘Well Fed Riverside’ umbrella of projects. This is a comprehensive approach that the Community Planning and Resilience Team have been working on that helps customers retain their dignity whilst receiving support to tackle food insecurity.

The first pantry is in the Langley area and we plan to continue developing the project into a sustainable and affordable food offer for the local community.

So far, there are two rooms assigned for the pantry, one of which has shelving in and another with a fridge and freezer for cold storage. There is also an onsite allotment currently in development, which will eventually contribute seasonal produce to the pantry.
