New contracts awarded to Riverside will provide help and support for people in Wakefield

Riverside Care and Support has won three new contracts to provide more supported housing services to help those who need it in Wakefield.

The new contracts came as a result of Wakefield Council re-commissioning their Housing Related Support services, subsequently delivering a wider range of support to the area.

New contracts that Riverside will provide are:

  1. Assessment Centre Pathway – which is an outreach service that will provide 48 emergency and short-term accommodation to prevent rough sleeping.
  2. Young Families contract – which is an extended and larger version of Riverside’s existing Teenage Parent Project, providing 36 homes to teenage parents as well as additional floating support to young families.
  3. Complex Needs Service – is a brand new contract awarded to Riverside to provide accommodation for eight people who need additional support for drug and alcohol-related addiction etc.

In addition to the three new contracts, Riverside also re-negotiated a deal to continue providing accommodation at Marie House. This scheme has eight flats to help victims of domestic abuse in the area.

Riverside now delivers four out of seven commissioned homelessness contracts under the new model in Wakefield.

Sharon Leighton, Riverside Area Manager for Care and Support, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome.

“We are excited to be delivering these services on behalf of Wakefield Council, and look forward to continuing our relationship with them and other housing support service providers.

“The teamwork, support and dedication from everyone who helped win the contracts has been absolutely fantastic.”
