Colleagues recruit one million Dementia Friends

Riverside’s work with Alzheimer’s Society has helped recruit one million Dementia Friends, to generate a greater understanding of the condition. Our two-year fundraising partnership with the charity, which ended last year, not only raised almost £47,000 but also made staff more aware of the issues affecting people living with dementia, with many signing up to become Dementia Friends. Quality Officer Ken Johnson is a Dementia Friends’ Champion. He held awareness sessions to encourage colleagues to become part of the widening social movement aimed at paving the way for social change to enhance the lives of those affected by dementia. Ken said: “It is important that Riverside staff become Dementia Friends to gain a basic understanding and awareness of how the condition presents itself. It’s great to see many more of us helping our tenants to live well with dementia.”
