It is with great sadness that we are sharing the tragic news that Rik Hughes, our Director of Business Development for Care & Support, passed away on Saturday 27 March following a short and sudden illness. The news has come as a great shock to those that knew or worked with Rik and the impact will be felt by many in Riverside and across the sector.

Since joining Riverside in 2018, Rik’s contribution to our organisation has been enormous; his passion, commitment and outstanding leadership have been a real driving force within our Care and Support business, helping to grow our reach and enhancing Riverside’s reputation as a leading provider of care and support services. In particular, Rik’s knowledge and experience have been invaluable in shaping Riverside’s response to homelessness and how best to support those affected by it – an issue about which he was extremely passionate. Rik’s most significant impact, however, was on those with whom he worked. Many knew Rik as a warm, generous, good-humoured and intelligent man who always made time for people. Rik’s calm, thoughtful approach and positive outlook was appreciated by everyone, particularly during difficult times, and many colleagues have benefitted from his guidance and support at some time.

Rik will be greatly missed by everyone at Riverside and his many colleagues and friends across the sector.
