The Real Junk food Café is now open at the Shaw Street supported housing and training centre for homeless people in Everton, Livepool and will be getting out the vital message about using food well and wisely in the run up to Christmas.

Shaw Street is a great combination of aspirations and hopes – the aspirations of the men and women living at the scheme who are doing training courses, self esteem activities and having support from our specialist workers so they can move on with their lives.  And the business hopes of The Real Junk Food Project team.  It’s a great atmosphere!

In case you need a crash course in the Real Junk Food Project’s ethos – they intercept food that would otherwise go to waste from supermarkets, restaurants and a number of other sources, and turn it into healthy, nutritious meals for anyone and everyone on a pay-as-you-feel donation basis.

Shaw Street provides temporary housing and a wide range of training opportunities, from literacy and numeracy through to help with job searches.  The centre’s in-house training area, training kitchen and allotment also give access to a lot of practical learning opportunities, with cookery tips to be gleaned from the Real Junk Food team!

In the run up to Christmas the Real Junk Food Café will be open Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 11am-4pm.

Come along and enjoy!

Address: 117 Shaw Street, L6 1HW, entrance on side of building.
