The Moorings, an East London estate, has a new look thanks to £44K funding from housing association Riverside.
New gates and bin stores are now in place after issues with security and dilapidation in this East London community. The refresh project began in January with old bin stores and sheds demolished, and the estate security gates were improved with the fob entry system reinstated.
After a consultation with tenants, Riverside applied for central asset management team funding of circa £44k to improve security and the general surroundings at The Moorings, including upgrading the CCTV with infra-red cameras.
Community engagement officer, Wendy Mason, said: “It’s great to be able to address long-standing issues with the gates at the estate, the community had expressed security fears so the gates have been relocated and a fob entry system reinstated. The new bin stores and sheds have hugely improved the usage for tenants, and the whole area has been redesigned. Tenants are delighted with the improvements.”
