The Working Well Project in Carlisle and Eden

Providing a unique approach to individual’s needs for finding work

In July this year, Riverside was granted funds from the Big Lottery and European Social Fund for a project to deliver bespoke training and work experience for individuals who are facing multiple and complex barriers to employment.

Gail Jenson, Income Maximisation Team Leader talks about this unique project and how they are looking to help over 250 people in the Carlisle and Eden area.

We applied for the funding in 2016 and were really pleased to have been granted this money to help those who are looking for work, training or personal development opportunities.

This project moves away from just information, advice and guidance. It’ll provide opportunities to develop confidence and competencies through a range of experiential and practical situations through on the job training.

We will work with our partners – The Conversation Volunteers, Impact Housing and Workers Educational Association to address our customer’s individual barriers, challenges and then create bespoke training and work experience to improve their opportunities to access work.

The project will run until March 2019 and we hope to help over 250 people by building their confidence, gaining experience and helping them to either move closer to the job market or find work
